Japanese Hair Straightening

Created by Japanese hair expert Yuko Yamashita, Japanese hair straightening is a permanent hair straightening based upon the scientific principle of thermal reconditioning. This is basically a form of chemical hair straightening.
The salient features of Japanese hair straightening are summarized below:-
  • Unlike other hair straightening processes that involve relaxers, it mainly treats hair with chemicals to smoothen them out.
  • Japanese hair straightening process is a long process and may take up to 8 hours depending upon the thickness and length of the hair since in this process hair is divided into sections with each section is ironed, rinsed and blow dried.
  • Japanese hair straightening is a , permanent hair straightening process.
  • This chemical hair straightening process is not advised to be used on bleached or other chemically treated hair whereas it is observed to be strengthening normal hair with even improving the condition.
  • Phi-ten is the specialized water that is applied in Japanese hair straightening containing electronically stable molecules which when subjected to heat increases the nutrients and moisturizing agents absorbing capability of the hair rapidly.
  • Japanese Hair Straightening involves alternative shampooed, flat ironed, heated under high-heating lamps, blown out and repeating the entire process again.
There are basically two types of Japanese Hair Straightening processes:-
  1. Yuko: - This is the original Japanese Hair Straightening process which is basically for previously untreated hair and is not advisable for African ethnic hair or hair previously treated with. It involves only single penetration.
  2. Liscio: - This one is the more developed form with involving chemical bonding restructuring and can be used upon previous chemically treated hair. Developed in 1996 it is the more used Japanese Hair Straightening process today than Yuko.
